Passage: Revelation 21:6
Shortly before he died, Evangelist Luis Palau was asked, “If you could send a text from Heaven to people who have not put their trust in Jesus, what would it say?” Palau’s response was simple, direct and in no way disrespectful:
“Don’t be stupid!”
What Palau meant was why, when everything has been done for us by Jesus to make it possible to be forgiven of our sin and spend eternity with Him, would we reject His offer?
Who would pass up an offer like that? Yet many do.
If you have never committed your life to Jesus Christ and would like to, then here is the commitment you must make:
- Admit to God you are a sinner and need His forgiveness.
- Ask God to forgive you for your sin and tell Him you are going to turn away from it.
- Thank Jesus for dying for your sin and tell Him you are no longer trusting in your own good works to save you but in what He has done for you.
- Ask Jesus to come into your life and to take control of it as your Lord and Saviour.
You will find it helpful to pray something like this. (Remember, this prayer is a guide; you don’t have to use these exact words but allow them to guide the things you want to say to God).
“Heavenly Father, I understand I am a sinner and I need you to forgive me. From this moment on I turn away from all my sin and ask you to forgive me. I understand that my good works cannot bring about this forgiveness – it is only by what Jesus has done in dying and rising for my sin. I put my trust and faith in Him, and I ask Lord Jesus that you will take control of my life as my Lord and Saviour. In your Name I pray, amen.”
Jesus has promised everyone who is spiritually thirsty that they can drink “freely from the springs of the water of life without cost.” (Revelation 21:6)
As Luis Palau said, “Don’t be stupid!” – trust Jesus today.
