What would you do if you knew you only had one week to live?

This is the question we have been considering over the past 40 days.

As we have reflected on the final week of the life of Jesus, a number of important things about Him have come into focus.

  1. Jesus is without doubt God in human form. We have seen Jesus claim this for Himself when He was on trial before the Sanhedrin. It was acknowledged by the Centurion who witnessed His crucifixion, and it is evident in the way He fulfilled so many ancient prophecies in His final days leading to the cross.
  1. Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the whole world. While we considered the brutality of Jesus’ scourging and crucifixion, we came to see that the emphasis on the death of Jesus in the Gospels isn’t the physical suffering He endured – as horrible as that was – but on what His death means. Paul summed up Jesus’ death in five words: “Christ died for our sins.” (1 Corinthians 15:1)
  1. Jesus rose physically from the dead. As a result of this, Jesus is the One appointed by God as Judge and one day we will stand before Him to give an account for our life.

What will be your response to these truths?

As the women observed the empty tomb on that resurrection morning, they were told by the angel to meet Jesus in Galilee where He was waiting for them and to pass this Good News along to His disciples. Their first reaction is to flee from the tomb and initially they say nothing about what they have seen. This obviously changed quickly because their testimony has been recorded for us in the Gospels!

The news went out rapidly: “Jeus is alive, and He is waiting for you in Galilee!”

Jesus is waiting to meet you as well, right beside you as you read this, asking you to believe and turn to Him.

What will you do?

Jesus is waiting.
